Keywords & Cultures & Indian Challenges
This series of lectures explores the challenges made over the past forty or fifty years to Raymond Williams’ Keywords. The lectures defend the crucial social, cultural and historical contribution made by Williams, but they explore ways in which Translation Studies and Ethnolinguistics challenge the approach and widen its scope. With the rise of India and China, European approaches to Keywords are being challenged by other languages, and the Eurocentric and Anglocentric framework of Williams’ Paradigm must be both defended from within and radically revised from within and from without in linguistic communities around the world.
